The IRIS search interface allows the user to search in any of the
available databases for a location by selecting the appropriate information
in the two selection boxes on top of the search tab (see Figure 1 below).
When the user makes a selection, up to twenty of the most relevent fields
are presented to the user. By simply selecting an appropriate search
qualifier ("equal to", "less than", "greater than", "between") and typing in
a value in one or more of the fields, the user has created their query.
All that's left to do is click on
Search.

The matches to your search will now be presented with the search results
screen. The search results screen can be displayed either as a single record at a time (see Figure 2)
or as a browsing list (see Figure 3). Either result screen will show you the number of records that
matched your search and the record you are focusing on. You will also be able to navigate through all of your
search matches. As you change the focus property in the search results, the tabs near the top of the
screen may change. These tabs show you all of the different data sources that are available
for that property. You may click on any of these tabs at any time to view the related information on
that tab.
