Connecting to a Server
Before logging into an IRIS Server, you must Connect to the IRIS Network.
After your network connection is made, you are ready to log into the Server.
When you signed the IRIS license agreement, you should have relieved a User
Information form. This form will provide you with a username, password, and
server name. If you did not relieve this form, please contact your IRIS
representative.
Logging in to the IRIS Server
At this point, you should have all of the information you need to run IRIS. If
you are not currently connected to the Internet, do so now. Next, start IRIS.
After the introduction screen disappears, a login box will appear. There are
three input boxes on this form. These correspond to the three pieces of
information found on the User Information form. Fill these in exactly as shown
on the form (including the proper case). Then press the
Connect... button. The connection status dialog will show the
progress of the login process. If there are any errors, a description of the
error will be displayed The most common error is a User Validation Error.
This means that you have incorrectly typed in your username or password. Make
sure that these are correct and try again.
After a successful login, the Search Tab will be displayed and
it will list several fields which you may use to search the database. For your
convenience, the username and server name will default to the last entered
information. As a security precaution, the password is not saved.
