Label Wizard

One of the powerful features of IRIS is its ability to create Mailing Labels. Using this feature is simple, and greatly increases the value of the system for those who need to contact people. Mailing labels can be created in two ways. First, you can print mailing labels for all of the properties that you find in any search. You can also select an area of the map, and create mailing labels for every property in that area.

Selecting Properties

To create mailing labels from the results of a search, conduct a search as normal. When the system returns after the search, select Create Mailing Labels/From Search Results from the Toolbar or Output Menu.

To create mailing labels from a map, draw a map containing the properties you would like to mail. Next, select Create Mailing Labels/From Map from the Toolbar or Output Menu.

You will be asked to select an area of the map for which to create mailing labels. To do so, position the mouse pointer over one corner of the desired area. Hold down the left mouse button while dragging the mouse pointer to the opposite corner of the desired area, and release the mouse button. This will draw a rectangle around this area, and select all the properties inside that area to create the labels.

IRIS Label Wizard

After you have selected the properties you want mailing labels for, the IRIS Label Wizard window will appear to help you finish creating the labels.

  1. First, you must select the set of labels to print. This list will vary from county to county, but will frequently contain options such as Owner Address, Occupant Address, Taxpayer Address, etc. Determine which type of label will best suit your needs and select it from the drop-down list.
  2. Next, you must select the format of labels that you will be printing. This tells the Label Wizard what size and shape to make the labels. Select the appropriate brand and style number from the drop-down list. This information is usually printed on the packaging for the labels.
  3. Now, you must let IRIS download the information from the IRIS Server. This is when the information that is to be printed on the labels is sent to your computer. To do so, press the Get The Labels button.
  4. You are now ready to print your mailing labels. Be certain that you have the labels loaded into your printer, and then press the Print (Preview) the Labels button. A Report Setup window will appear to help setup the printer. If the settings are correct, press the OK button and your labels will print. To change the settings of your printer, press the Setup button. To preview the labels that are to be printed, select the Preview option and press the OK button.

Note: As with all data in IRIS, there is a limit to the number of mailing labels that can be downloaded at one time. This limit is currently 250, but it does vary. This limit is necessary because of data licensing issues.
