Setup
Before setting up IRIS, check that your computer meets the following
hardware requirements:
- An IBM compatible PC, 486 processor or higher
- Microsoft Windows 3.11, Windows 95, or Windows NT
- A minimum of 8 MB of RAM
- A minimum of 5 MB of hard drive space for installation (more space may be needed to download and store information and on your hard drive.)
- A video card capable of displaying 256 colors or greater
- Connection to the IRIS Network, either through a Direct Internet Access or local Dialup Access to the IRIS Server
- A Windows-compatible mouse (optional)
- A Windows-compatible printer (optional)
Although IRIS will run on the described system, it is a very minimal configuration. PropertyKey recommends the following, more practical configuration of a Pentium 100 (or higher) with 16 MB of RAM, running Windows 95, and using a video card that can display at least 65,536 colors.
