The toolbar provides access to many functions that may be used at any time. These include logging in to the system, outputting functions, and accessing help. The buttons on the toolbar correspond to the most important functions found in the main menu. These buttons also have pop-up messages that will tell you what the function of the button that the mouse is over.

• The Connect Button allow you to connect or disconnect from an IRIS Server.
• The Help Button allows you to access these help files.
• The Copy Button allows you to copy information from IRIS to the Windows Clipboard. From here, it can easily be imported into other Windows applications.
• The Save Button allows you to save information from IRIS to a file for later use.
• The Print Button allows you to print any information from IRIS to an attractive hard copy format.
• The E-Mail Button allows you to send IRIS information as an E-Mail message, using IRIS's integrated E-Mail Program.

On the right hand side of the toolbar is the system activity monitor. This shows up as a globe that spins while a request is made to the IRIS server, such as conducting a search, drawing a map, etc. The center of the toolbar is reserved for a variety of information and tools which are useful after conducting a search.

Many of these features are also accessible through the Menus.
