Using IRIS E-Mail

One powerful aspect of IRIS is its integrated E-Mail output feature. Instead of saving information from IRIS, or copying it into another program, you can generate E-Mail directly. This allows you to send important information to your clients, without the hassle of moving between programs. You can type in a brief message to your recipient, and attach any of the information available in IRIS, as well as other files. NOTE: You must have an existing E-Mail account to use this feature.

The IRIS E-Mail progam can be accessed from the Output Menu or the E-Mail button on the Toolbar near the copy, print and save buttons.

The first time the E-Mail program is run, you will be asked to fill in some E-Mail Settings. Once this information is entered, you can begin sending E-Mail. To do so, first type the E-Mail address of your recipient into the Recipient area. You can send multiple copies of an E-Mail by typing another address into the CC area, or by typing multiple E-Mail addresses in the Recipient area, seperating each with commas or semicolons.

You should type a brief description of the message in the Subject area. This will give the recipient an idea of what your message is about. You can now type your E-Mail message in the large message area at the bottom of the window.

To attach information from IRIS, select the Attach Menu or the Attachments Button in the center of the E-Mail Toolbar. From the attachments submenu, you can select which IRIS information to add to the E-Mail message. You can choose to attach the Current Map, the Current Picture, the Current Record (Textual Information on a Tab), or the Current Demographics. After choosing what to attach, the information will be converted and added to the Attached Files list.
NOTES:

When you attach the Current Record, the textual information that is currently being viewed in IRIS is attached. To attach other records, select a new tab in IRIS, and attach the Current Record again.
You must view the information in IRIS before you can attach it to an E-Mail message. For example, you must select and view a picture on the Picture Tab before you can attach it to an E-Mail. If you forget, you will be prompted to return to IRIS and view the desired information before trying to attach it.
You can attach as many files from IRIS as you like. When you are finished attaching files, you can send your message. To do so, select the Send Button on the Toolbar or Send from the Mail Menu. The E-Mail message and attachments will be sent to the recipient(s) you specified.
